Let us ask the Lord for the grace not to speak badly of others, not to criticise, not to gossip but rather to love everyone.” Pope Francis

Autumn Term

We will be learning lots of important topics in our first term in year 4. In History we will be travelling back in time to learn about the Romans. We will also be studying animals in Science, including ourselves. In R.E we will be studying Jesus’s Family and deepening our knowledge of faith by thinking about what we can learn from the life Abraham, Solomon and Joseph.

Within our second half term we will be learning about different cities, towns and villages within the UK in Geography. In Science we will be looking at electricity. Whilst in R.E we will be looking at the topic of belonging and Advent in the lead up to Christmas.

Homework

The children will be given weekly homework of Maths orEnglish, as well as Spellings. These are set on Friday and should be returned and completed by the following Wednesday.

Children also take home a reading book which should be read at home, to evidence this reading the Reading Diary should be dated and signed.

Throughout this year we will be learning our times tables up to 12x12 as these need to be known fluently. Relevant testing at home in relation to times tables would be very helpful to the children.

Uniform

Correct uniform is to be worn for school. Swimming kits are needed every Thursday, these include a swimming costume, towel and swimming cap (if the child has hair long enough to cover their eyes). Jewellery is not allowed to be worn in school.
